Shauna is a bioethicist (MA, New York University) with a passion for social impact, urban innovation and creating connected, vibrant communities.
Shauna is currently the Senior Philanthropic Advisor at Fundamental, a boutique philanthropic investment firm which has helped clients invest more than $150 million to create systemic change in the issues they care about most (clients include Steven Spielberg's Righteous Persons Foundation, Barbra Streisand, and Philip and Monica Rosenthal).
Shauna was previously the Director at the Goldhirsh Foundation, where she designed and launched LA2050, an initiative which has deployed more than $3 million of philanthropic investments into creative ideas impacting LA's future. As the Director of Community and Innovation at theGoldhirsh Foundation, Shauna managed all of the foundation's programs and initiatives, including LA2050. Her role was to connect the dots between the best emerging innovations in LA and the financial, social, and human capital to make them thrive.
Her first job out of college was working on school lunch reform at the Urban and Environmental Policy Institute at Occidental College and as program director of a national school garden program.
She has published work on various topics, from genetically modified foods, to the use and governance of new reproductive technologies, to agricultural policy. Her writing has appeared in GOOD Magazine, HelloGiggles, and KCET, among others. A board member of LA-Más, Shauna has a master’s degree in bioethics from New York University and is a proud Angeleno.
